    Dark Eldar HQ Lelith Hesperax

I just ordered Lelith Hesperax to be the HQ for the Dark Eldar force I’m working on. It’s a good thing I really like the model because it’s really pricey at $17 for just one model.

You’re forgetting that the points cost of the model is factored into the final price. GW characters (especially special characters) always cost more than generic troopers.

Here in NZ, Eldrad Ulthuan (a model that is over 10 years old) still sells for NZ$30+!

    Christmas! Sort of…..

Yesterday and today was sort of like Christmas for me. Yesterday I  picked up the new Space Hulk and got the Malifaux rulebook in the mail. Today I got some awesome AE-Bounty figures from Darkson Designs.

Which AE-Bounty models did you order?

    • Larkin Vain 2:16 pm on September 6, 2009 Permalink | Reply

I got the Defender, Gunfighter and Huntsman. All very nice.

    • cybogoblin 1:33 am on September 7, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Heh, same ones I picked up :p

I was thinking about getting some of the aliens, but it would have been nice to see what they all did first – and I didn’t want to spend 10 minutes flipping through the rulebook preview to do so.

I cant help but wanna jump in on Malifaux, how do the rules hold up?

    • Larkin Vain 9:45 pm on September 9, 2009 Permalink | Reply

The rules are pretty solid. It doesn’t use any dice but it’s very dynamic and easy to learn. I highly recommend it.

    Project: Imperial Guard

My next 40K army will be Imperial Guard. Yesterday to start of my Imperial Guard project I picked a Battalion and a unit of Imperial Guardsmen. Today Ipicked upa Basilisk. I have a couple months to get these things read for the May release of the new codex. Hopefully I would have everything finished by then.

If you’re thinking of having Ogryn in your army check out Hasslefree Miniatures O Grymmn. I picked one up at Hammerhead (only £5) and it’s huge, I’ve not got a recent GW Ogryn to compare with but it’s bigger than the old metal versions by Citadel/Maruader in the late 80s/early 90s. Hasslefree only have the one pose at the minute though but it’s a great model.

Thanks for the tips. I plan on making a tank heavy army (if possible under the new codex). I’m also planning to get at least two Valkyries.

    • a_thousand_hats 10:38 am on February 23, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Looking at the rumours it looks like a tank heavy army is possible. Lots of tanks and two Valkyries – what PV are you looking to have available 2-3000′ish or just as big as it gets?

Check for the re-release of the Apacalypse boxes… I got three Leman Russ tanks in the first release (currently gathering dust), and now it seems you can field three of them as a single HS slot.

    Election Day…..

Well today is election day. I started this morning watching the news but then quickly decided to do something else. What’s the point in watching pundits talk about who’s voting for who or who will win by what. By this time tomorrow it won’t matter. I figure I have better things to do… like put together some miniatures. :)

I assembled 20 Guardian models which are now ready to be primed. At this rate I may be done with my Eldar army box by the end of the week.

Just for fun I’m adding a poll to see who folks that visit my site will be voting for. Please do not comment on who you vote and why. Or any other comments relating to your choice… It’s been two years of this kind of stuff and I really just want it over with. I also get to test out this polling feature for WordPress.

    My Next 40K Army Is…

Eldar. Yesterday picked up the Eldar Codex and later today I plan on picking up the Eldar Army box. I hope to have a 1500 point army finished by mid December.

You’ve become bored with that newly painted Space Marine Army already??

    • Larkin Vain 9:28 pm on November 1, 2008 Permalink | Reply

Heheh just a little…. gotta try something new :)

    • Miniature Peddler 8:57 am on November 2, 2008 Permalink | Reply

Tell you what, I’ll help you out. I have lots of unassembled Eldar and I will trade out for those awfully painted Space marines you have finished .

Seriously, if you can do to the eldar what you did with the SM, you will have a good looking army.

Thanks for the offer, but I’m still very much attached to my Space Marines… just want to play something different for our next local campaign. :)

New Space Marine Codex Is Here!

Just picked it up today from my local game shop. My initial impressions: Very hefty. Lots to read. Sort of sad there’s no Terminator command squad anymore.

More 40k Games Under My Belt

Yesterday I played 2 games of 40K. First game was my Space Marines against Daemons. Man that was brutal. Once they get into close combat it was hard to do anything else. My second game was against Chaos Space Marines. Another fun game. Very tough to play against. My Vindicator didn’t do very well but in the end I had fun for both games.

    Updated Progress on the Thunderhawk

Got a lot done now that I have the engine and wings. I still have more detail work to do before I start painting it.

    Space Marines Thunderhawk

I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated but I’ve been tackiing several projects at once. The biggest one for me is a scratch built Thunderhawk. Here are some pictures of where I’m currently at with my Thunderhawk. I friend of mine has some extra engines that could be used that I will pick up tomorrow. Once i have those on hand I will start on the main wings.
