Back to Work…

May 26, 2009

I’ve neglected doing some projects way to long now so I’m not back working on some Warmachine/Hordes models. The Invitational was a blast and has given me the motivation needed to get stuff done.

First on the list of things to do are my Skorne. Here’s what’s on the painting queue.

  • Epic Morgul
  • Epic Makeda
  • 5 Ferox
  • 8 Venators

For now I will start with the Ferox.

Arcane Legions

May 9, 2009

A new game that was recently revealed at GAMA has caught my eye. The name of the game is Arcane Legions.

You can learn more about them at their website here:
http://www.arcanelegions.com/

There’s also a preview of the game here:
http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/14766.html

What draws me to the game first of all is the setting. It’s sort of like historical mixed with some fantasy.

Next is the way they decided to do the collectible factor in this game. The ways to buy into this game makes the random collecting via a booster almost a non-issue. Here are their product offerings.

More than 110 25mm figures with small starter armies for all 3 factions. With formation bases, and base cards for a two player game. Non-blind purchase. Not exactly sure if these are pre-painted or not.

Army Pack – $14.99
An average of 40 25mm figures with packs that are faction specific. These are not pre-painted. Non-blind purchase.

Cavalry Pack – $14.99

An average of 14 25mm cavalry figures with packs that faction specific. These are not pre-painted. Non-blind purchase.

Booster Pack – $11.99
Booster packs are random but are faction specific and contain leaders and special arcane units. Contains 8 combat units with at least 1 rare painted leader figure and base card, 2 rare or uncommon units with their base card with an average of 3 painted figures, along with 5 formation base cards. They are shipped in faction specific bundles of 8. A purchase of this bundle will guarantee one of every figure for that faction.

Update! The Booster Packs will all contain 5-10 fully painted figures (depending on the size).

There are 3 faction that will be available when it is released. There’s Cleopatra’s Egypt, Augustus’ Rome, and the Chinese Han Empire. Expected release date is September 2009.

Looking At Urban War Again

April 16, 2009

Urban War has always intrigued me. I love the model range and the rules seems pretty straight forward. A couple of things are making me look at this game again. First the new ruleset and supplement Urban War: Strike Team Actions and  Urban War CLAUS. Second is the fact there are 2 other folks that are want to get into this game as well. The latter is a much bigger factor into me looking at Urban War as it’s always nice to have someone to play with.

A couple of days ago I orderd the Strike Team Actions rulebook and CLAUS supplement along with some models that I like here and there. After I give a good reading through the books I’m going to decided exactly what faction I”m going to start.

Based upon looks there are 3 factions that stand out to me. Viridian, Syntha and VASA. I may end up doing all 3 eventually but I think I may start with VASA and Syntha as on of my other friends already has some Viridian stuff from Void.

I’ve given up the idea of starting an Imperial Guard army and have sold those models off along with my not finished Stompa. On to something new!

I Find This Rather Amusing

April 9, 2009

From June of 2008 to April of 2009.

I did by a starter mainly because I had nothing to buy that day. I find it amusing how folks thought it was going to succeed and that how others should follow suit and how now no one is surprised of its demise.
